News
Hi all, Coady back here again for your round up of all the news and gossip of the Pendennis club in the last few months! We have had a trial, motocross and a Road trial since the last newsletter so a lot to talk about. I finally made it through the whole motocross event without breaking any bones.
EVENTS
FRASER'S WOODS TRIAL
A 10am start for sidecars gave them a chance to compete in some well prepared sections an hour before the solos started. Top dogs in the expert class for the sidecars were S. Stephens and G. Davey. They dropped 17 marks followed from P. Lawer and C. Jenkin on 32. In the novice group the top two both dropped 30 marks. The win went to S. Jenkin and P. Highland with 26 cleans and T. Jenkin and M. Burden in second place with 23 cleans. The solos really enjoyed themselves with good demanding sections. Unfortunatly the weather wasn't the best but still, a Pendennis meeting without rain wouldn't be a PMC meeting. In the blue course yet another tie for the win. George Edyvean took the honours with 17 cleans and Ross Hancock took second with 14 cleans. Ian Martin took the non expert win and S Goodman took the schoolboy A win all on the blue course. On the white course Robin Martin took the class win with only 6 marks lost with a 15 mark advantage over T. Vercoe. PMC member Shane 'Scorcher' Orchard took third spot with 23 marks lost. On the Yellow course Tony 'Chips' Penhaligon took the Mono Novice win with only 5 marks lost. On the red course it was rising star Toby Martyn who took the win with 12 marks lost with Anton Ferris in second spot.
MOTOCROSS AT POLWYN FARM
The weather wasn't the best at the start of the motocross and left the track wet in places, but after practise the track dried up and was perfect for a great days racing. The Quads were the first out with Nick Whetter taking the overall win with three race wins. T. Jones took second and Shane Orchard abard the Kawasaki machine took third. Jamie Paget took the overall win in the junior A class with Richard Penhaligon in second and Leon Burt in third spot. It was really good to see the twinishock and evolution boys out there putting on some fantastic races. Tim Carter took the overall in the twinshock class aboard the big 500 Husky. PMC member Stuart George took a great 2nd spot overall. Phil Atkins took the evolution class win, with Tony chips in second. Credit for this event goes to Chairman Chris Mallaber and Gareth Andrew who put on a fantastic meeting enjoyed by all. Many thanks also goes to Marcus Wilcox who helped pick in the track and pull the vehicles out of the circuit with his quad. Many thanks goes to the lap scorers and all marshalls for their contribution to the event.
FLORA ROAD TRIAL 2008
Couldn't ask for any better weather for this event. The sun was shining and it was good to see the local postman delivering on a sunday. Dinky always seems to be the crowd pleaser and turned up with his trustworthy Honda C90 with a postman pat van fitted around it. 89 solos, 7 sidecars and 18 cars started the event at the Coppice Inn, Lanner. G.A spoke to Rob the night before and said there would probably be about 17-20 people for breakfasts in the morning or 30 on a good day. 52 was the final count so they was very pleased with the turnout. Between 400 and 500 meals were processed throughout the day so it was just as a successful road trial for the coppice as it was for Pendennis. In the Sidecar class it was Gareth Andrew and George Edyvean who carried on their winning ways with the overall class win with only 6 marks lost. Martin and Claire Chapman took 2nd with 18 marks lost. Shane Orchard took the class win in the quads with no marks dropped throughout the whole day. Melroy Youlton, Shaun Martin, Robin Martin and Richard Parkyn stayed clean all day with Shaun Martin coming out on top with a faster special test in the B class and Robin Martin took the win in the A class. A special mention most go to Charley Mooney who completed the Trial on a Sherco 50cc dropping 27 marks. Julia Atkins took the overall win in the ladies class with Rose Disney in second and Louise Hillier taking third spot. Thanks to all land owners, working parties and the staff at the Coppice Inn for helping make this event a great success.
PMC MEMEBERS ON TOUR
This section is to credit the members that have done someting really well not just locally but nationally. George Edyvean went to the Scottish six days trial putting on fantastic display claiming 91st overall. Toby Martyn is leading the Schoolboy D class in the British trials championship at the moment, so is well on his way to following in his dad's footsteps. Four Pendennis members will be representing Cornwall in the twinshock inter centre trial at Derbyshire. Shane Orchard, George Edyvean, Robin Martin and Gareth Andrew will be the members competing. So good luck to them. A full report will be in the next newsletter. Also you will be able to find out about the brilliant trip some PMC memebers had to the Isle of Man TT.
